As part of life’s normal flow, we grieve at the passing of others, whether they are close by or distantly located, mere acquaintance or best friend, real or fictional. I am saddened at the death of a someone dear last week. She was a generous friend to me (and countless others), engaging teacher to my child, and a wonderful mother of four independent, intelligent, successful children. She was also a long term breast cancer patient.
In the end her suffering was great, and while her departure from this world was mercilessly premature, it did release her from the misery of sickness. Still, I am oddly envious of her extended opportunity to properly say goodbye to those who cared for her.
I am grateful to have known her.
