Call me crazy, but I’m almost giddy with excitement about tomorrow’s treatment. When I leave Kaiser in the afternoon, I will be half-way through chemo!
Weight: Back down to 118.5 lbs. This is just another small fluctuation — so far, I haven’t seen any ballooning (from the steroids) or tanking (from taste bud funk induced appetite changes).
General condition: 99% of normal. If last week’s Thanksgiving Triathlon was any indication, I’d say it’s really 100%. I’m subtracting 1% just because it seems like I should.
Blood Tests (11/28): I’ve moved back into anemic territory (just barely) but on the plus side my sagging WBC (White Blood Cell) count rebounded a bit.
Hair Loss: The top view of my head makes it look like there’s less hair at my part now compared to Week 2. This could be actual hair loss or maybe a visual distortion from lighting differences, which also make my hair appear blueish in the left picture, brownish in the middle, and black in the right. It’s probably a combination of both. Update: I just remembered to add that although my scalp hair is sticking, I can’t say the same for areas, especially over the past week. Either the hair has been inadvertently or intentionally removed and isn’t growing back (e.g., bits of right eyebrow from overly sticky moleskin or underarms) or has spontaneously been falling out.
Body Aches: None.
Peripheral Neuropathy: None.
Nausea and Vomiting: None.
Intestinal Upset: None.
Mouth & Nose: Normal.
Nails & Skin: Skin and scalp are almost back to normal this week. My left “index” toenail was hurting over the past couple of days (but is normal now). I can’t say whether I should blame toe squishing from a running shoe or biking shoe or whether the Taxol is the culprit. I do suspect repeated bashing during the Turkey Trot led to this minor complaint.
